2011 Reformed Baptist Family Conference

The conference will offer recreational activities during some afternoons and evenings.  Once those activities are planned, they will be identified on the schedule. Addtionally, there are many things to do in the Louisville area during your free time.  Below are some interesting ideas, all within a very short drive of Southern Seminary.

Louisville Bats

The Bats are the Triple A farm team for the 2010 NL Central Champion Cincinnati Reds.  In recent years, Louisville Bats fans have been able to watch players like Joey Votto (2010 NL MVP), Josh Hamilton (2010 AL MVP), Jay Bruce and many others come up through the baseball ranks.  Slugger Field, home to the Louisville Bats, is a beautiful ballpark along the Ohio River and the Bats attendance year after year ranks as one of the highest in all of minor leauge baseball.  A Bats game is an economical way to enjoy night outside and watch quality baseball.  The Bats have home games during each night of the 2011 Family Conference, all starting at 7:05pm.

Frazier International History Museum

The Frazier Museum is exclusive home to the Royal Armouries USA, the only home to this armory outside of Great Britian.  While most well known for its historical arms collection, the museum has become a journey through a 1,000 years of history, not limited to weaponry and arms.  It offers live historical performances and intriguing temporary exhibits in addition to its permanent collection of thousands of weapons artifacts.  The museum is home to interesting artifacts to include one of George Washington's rifles, Daniel Boone's family Bible, Geronimo's bow and Teddy Roosevelt's "Big Stick".

The Louisville Slugger Museum

The Louisville Slugger Museum is located within 10 minutes of Southern Seminary and provides a behind-the-scenes look at the production of actual Major League Baseball wooden baseball bats.  The Museum offers a batting cage where you can use the actual bat of a player of your choice and each visitor receives a minature Louisville Slugger bat.

The Louisville Zoo

The Louisville Zoo is a medium sized zoo that is very enjoyable to tour.  The zoo is probably most well known for its recently opened Glacier Run Exhibit which is an imaginary gold mining town on the edge of the artic wilderness.  The exhibit includes polar bears, grizzley bears and sea lions.  Also, the Gorilla Forest and Tiger Tundra are unique viewing areas for watching gorillas and big cats.

The Louisville Science Center

This children's museum is like many others around the nation.  It has many hands on exhibits and is home to an IMAX theatre.
